A Message About Growth…

As Christians we are not content to simply be baptized into the body of Christ or to merely have our name on the local church roll! We want to grow in Christ. We want to be more like Him. We want Him to have influence upon us, in us, and through us. For this to happen, we must abide in His word — the Bible. We must strive daily to put on more of Christ and take off more of our old nature. The apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians in 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but the Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

For us to reach the type of dedication that Paul speaks of to the Galatians, we as Christians must grow. In II Peter 3:18 we are told, “But grow in grace, and in knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” The Christian attitude must be pro-growth. We ought to be growing qualitatively as individuals. Furthermore, we as the collective body of Christ should want to see the Kingdom of God grow both qualitatively and quantitatively.

At Castalia Missionary Baptist Church there are three areas we strive to encourage every believer. They are as follows:

1) Christian Education – II Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” A Christian can only be as good a Christian as he or she knows how to be. Hence, the believer who best knows the word of God will best know how to please God. We expect every member to take part in our Christian Education Program. Please see our schedule for the regular meetings.

2) Christian Stewardship – We do not own anything in this present world. Possessions are loaned to us for a short period. The way we view and handle them is our stewardship. We are accountable to God for the choices we make in this area. Please see the paper, “Dimensions In Stewardship.”

3) Christian Evangelism – We are saved by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus Christ to bring someone else to the body of Christ. We as believers have a job as described in the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19-20 tell us, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” When we share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the unchurched and unsaved, our blessing becomes a blessing for someone else.
